This book was introduced by "The Minimalists" during their podcasts, "006 - Tuesday".
Later on, as I was browsing through the library books, I found the latest book by Dan Harris. When I noticed this, I searched for his earlier book, '10% Happier' and found it.
This book is a mediation for beginners guidebook, story of how Dan Harris got into the meditation practice.
As a meditator myself, I have many questions that I do not have an answer to them. I thought I would know if I meditate long enough. But even after more than 2 years in meditation, I still am lost. With this book, it is written from the beginner's point of view so it is easier to for me to understand and answers some of the questions that I have.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants to meditate, but not comfortable with its association with Buddhism, There is an 'Appendix: Instructions' section for those who want to skip his long story and try to start meditating. Those are simple instructions you can follow and FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) to clear some of your doubts. Since this book is written by a meditator but reviewed by a few meditation teachers/masters (Dan Harris's associates), I don't see any misleading facts on meditation practice.
Please try the 5 minutes meditation to catch a glimpse of what meditation is and how it helps you to deal with the voice in your head.
